All our walks on one map

Walks From The Woodman is a small booklet of short rambles, created for those who love walking, enjoy the open countryside, and like a pint of superbly kept real ale. This is the accompanying website for the publication.

The walks pass through or reach the outskirts of several villages and hamlets in the area surrounding The Woodman in Wildhill, a CAMRA award-winning pub in the Hertfordshire countryside.

Our collection of rambles ranges from 2.6 miles to 8.4 miles. All start and finish in The Woodman car park, which is marked with a green walker icon on all maps (grid reference: TL 26359 06789).

They then take one of three routes before branching off to explore different areas of the local countryside.

The three routes are Hatfield footpath 84, which leaves the car park from the south, Hatfield footpath 85, which leaves the car park to the east just below the beer garden, and West End Lane, which heads north out of Wildhill.

The map above shows the routes of all 10 walks. The green route is Walk 1: The Camfield Loop (2.6 miles). Parts of this route are shared by all the other routes in the collection, so don’t be surprised if the first few directions in many of the routes are familiar.

The colours used in the combined map above are replicated on the individual maps for each walk. Approximate point-by-point distances are shown in brackets, with the total distance at the top of each walk.

Comments, tips, and suggestions are always welcome. Please use the contact form at the bottom right of any page if you want to offer feedback.

We recommend anyone wanting to explore the 10 routes carry a copy of the Ordnance Survey Explorer map 182, St Albans & Hatfield, or download and use the Ordnance Survey mobile app.
